[livejournal.com profile] jacqui_hw asked me to keep [livejournal.com profile] ditchwitchbitch amused by writing her a Jared/Jensen fic. I have never even read any SPN RPS, never mind written any, but I had a go anyway.

It was a day filled with tension in Vancouver, although Jared and Jensen were pretending everything was normal. Everyone was avoiding mentioning that today could be a day that lives changed but little things gave away what was on their minds. Tom and Mike's practical jokes had died down to zero, the usual laugher and silliness on set muted.

"You wanna go for a beer?" Jared asked. He didn't need to add until we get the news. Jensen knew what he meant.

"Sure," came the soft reply.

They'd made a point of not talking about it. If the show got cancelled, everything would change. Sure, they'd try and keep in touch, but it wouldn't be the same. They'd both have new projects to fill their time and a few phone calls a week could never be as good as what they had now.

The drive to the nearest bar was made in silence. Only a few hours now until they'd hear. They pretended to be confident in front of everyone else, and when they spoke to the fans at various conventions but nothing could stop the squirming feelings in their stomachs.

Beers in hand they found a booth and sat down, cell phones on the table ready for that all important call.

Jared started to fidget, peeling the label off the bottle, his legs jiggling nervously under the table.

He stilled when Jensen put a gentle hand on his knee.

“It’ll be ok, man. Whatever happens.”

It was a lie and they both knew it, but Jared smiled and Jensen gave his leg a squeeze. Jared took Jensen’s hand in his and brushed his thumb over the knuckles

Neither of them had expected things to turn out like this when they’d taken the job. They’d clicked almost as soon as they’d met and over time, neither of them could be sure when it had happened really, they’d become closer than the brothers they played on screen. Half the time they didn’t even need words to communicate with each other and this was one of those times.

The hours passed and more and more beers were consumed but still they didn’t need to talk. They sat, and waited, hands clasped tightly.

Jared’s cell was the first to ring, and he answered it with the hand which wasn’t locked with Jensen’s.

“Yeah? Ok. Right, thanks for telling me. Yeah, Jensen’s here. I’ll tell him. Ok, bye.”

He pressed the call end button and set his phone back down on the table.

Jensen looked at his quizzically and Jared leaned forward and kissed him. It was a warm kiss, soft and gentle but filled with the love they had come to have for each other. It made Jensen shiver with pleasure.

“I guess we should go back to the lot and celebrate with everyone.”

“In a minute,” Jensen replied. “I want to do some celebrating of my own first. My trailer or yours?”

The end
