I should listen to my gut feelings
General Comments: A little nervous but not so much to detract from the overall performance given. The problem was that the Candidate did not provide detailed responses to sufficiently demonstrate the core competences tested. It was considered the Candidate needs to gain a wider appreciation of the organisation in which she works. Regretfully the responses were not considered strong enough to indicate her suitability to perform the full range of duties in the next grade.
Working Together; It was recognised that the Candidate is prepared to discuss problems when detected and will determine the level of support required. She appears to create a reasonable understanding between team members and does encourage people to share ideas. Amplification of how her contribution impacts on the effectiveness of the team was considered necessary.
Leadership & Developing People; Was clear in describing how to appreciate the strengths and developmental needs of team members. Some further work considered necessary to describe how her management technique contributed to the overall goals of the team.
Communicating Influencing; The Candidate gave Team Briefings and made follow-up visits to ensure that people understood the answers given. It was considered that the Candidate needs to gain further experience in dealing with people who were dissatisfied and then needed further assurance (not enough evidence provided that continuing dissatisfaction was effectively resolved).
Analysing & Using Evidence; The Candidate explained partially the process for taking decisions and that she recognised when it was appropriate to make a referral to the Line Manager. Further evidence was considered necessary to articulate how information is considered to ensure that the decision taken was sound.
Imrpovement and Change; Appears competent when using Information Technology. Was proactive in approaching the Line Manager to assist on the introduction of a new system. But other Team members were required to complete work left to one side. Not clear from the evidence presented if this proved beneficial to the overall team performance (needed to be more focussed).
Planning & Managing Resources to Deliver Business Results; Gave a confident account when dealing with a particularly customer but did not articulate the wider interests of the Agency
